Well, the first half of 2010 has almost passed us by! As they say, time waits for no man. You probably made a couple of New Year’s resolutions, but these were probably generalities and non specifics. Have you kept any?

Maybe you vowed to start your own business, give up smoking, to get fit, to have more money, to spend more time with the family and so on, but what steps are you taking to actually achieve these ideals? And what are you doing to get started, or improve your online business?

You see, most people feel guilty about something, so they vow to correct it, but the necessary motivation is not there and the correct steps to achieving this, is not known and not implemented.

Most often our New Year’s resolutions are focused on negatives and not positives. For example, we may feel fat after the seasonal over indulgences, so we say we will lose weight, but we are actually saying we don’t like the way we look, or worse still, we think that other people don’t like the way we look.

Instead of thinking about what is wrong in our lives, we need to focus on positive goals. We need to write these down, analyze exactly what we want, how we can achieve them and a step by step plan to get there.

Don’t just say you want to get a successful internet business going this year, so that you can give up your job and work from home and of course, make more money. There is no direction to that dream and it will remain a dream. List milestones and dates and set out a plan of action. Keep to the plan and don’t give up.

You know that they say only 5% ever make it in internet business and 95% drop out in the first year. Did you know that almost 20% of the dropouts occur just before they hit the returns they had been hoping for? If they had persevered a little longer, they may well have cracked it! People give up too easily.

Another misconception is that these folks want the big money in only a couple of months, with a minimum of effort. Internet business is like any other business, in that you need a plan, working capital, money to live on, a firm budget, strict working hours, very good marketing, lots of advertising, good products etc.

It is not a hit and miss situation and is certainly not a get lucky, strike it rich scenario. It requires a lot of hard work and you need to keep abreast of changes and new methods.

If you lack the ability, dedication and financial means, you won’t get far. If you enjoy your freedom too much and neglect your work, you will fail. It is not easy and as you will know, if you read my series of articles entitled “Internet marketing in South Africa,” there are many obstacles. Some are big problems and some are specific to a country, but they have to be overcome.

If you are a computer boffin and know nothing about marketing, you are in trouble. If you are a born salesman, but struggle with the technical computer stuff, you are in trouble. If you are an experienced entrepreneur, but fail to keep up with advancements and become complacent, your success will be short lived.

Another thing to bear in mind, is that in order to set up a long term sustainable business, it might even take years. Sure you can use bullying tactics and rush a few sales very quickly, but this won’t last long.

Do the courses, read the books, find articles that will help you. Do whatever is necessary to hone your skills, but get started. It is no use just dreaming of what can be. You need to take positive action. Do it now and make 2008 the first year of the rest of your life.

If you lack direction and really don’t know where to start with your new internet business, but have a burning desire to give up the job and to work for yourself, from home, you may need an easy to follow plan.

One of the very best plans on the internet is “Six Figures Yearly”. Take a look at this and maybe you can give up that job sooner than expected! This promises to teach you exactly how to earn a pile of money. Click here, or copy this link into your browser: http://15edcbkf-z0d3x5iprnghb3itp.hop.clickbank.net/

Whatever you try, whether it is an online business, writing a book, entering date etc, there is only one rule that we at Bags Of Money insist on and that is to have fun. Take a light-hearted approach to working from home and don't stress!
